Refinery's hot off the Olympic starting blocks
Issued by: Kezi Communications

South Africa's golden boy, Paralympics athlete Oscar Pistorius, has just won another strenuous race - this time in the new Powerade limited edition Apple commercial finished by Refinery Visual Effects.

The spot has a powerful, emotive response and definitely has ‘gooseflesh' appeal: it features a rear, panned view of athletes at the starting block preparing for a race, with Oscar flexing his ‘blades' as the other athletes flex their trainer-clad feet. The starting gun blasts and off he shoots, stopping after victory for a long swig of Powerade Apple. Download the ad here. [3MB]

The ad also directs viewers to www.dreamrunner.co.za, where Powerade, who are official sponsors of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, are hosting the ‘Race for Gold' competition: participants can compete in an online 400m sprinting game to win instant prizes and stand in line for the grand prize - a trip for two to Europe with Oscar Pistorius himself.

The spot was conceptualised by Lowe Bull and produced and directed by Boris Vossgatter and Dean Bloomberg of Bouffant. The slick finishing touches and visual effects were then added under the expert management of Stuart Botha, producer at Refinery Visual Effects.
