Beijing Olympics in a Chinese lunch box

A Chinese lunch box containing White Rabbit sweets and an instruction manual printed in an eastern-style font with diagrams and symbols and five adorable Chinese mascots, is the latest creation for Oracle Airtime Sales (OATS) to inform advertisers of the opportunities associated with the upcoming 2008 Summer Olympics hosted in Beijing.

Oracle Airtime Sales has created five Olympic packages to help advertisers capitalise on their brand during one of the most exciting world events, which only takes place every four years.

“The 2008 Olympics is a landmark event for SuperSport who will launch their first ever high definition channel for the broadcast of this global event, over and above three 24 hour channels,” says Fahmeeda Cassim-Surtee, general manager of Sport & News at OATS.

The Olympics will be broadcast live from 8 to 24 August 2008 on three dedicated SuperSport channels on a 24 hour basis with ‘One World, One Dream' as the official slogan.

The mandarin lookalike instruction booklet gives a brief overview of the history of the Games, which originated in Olympia, Greece. In 1896 the first modern day Summer Olympics were hosted in Athens to commemorate its long recorded heritage dating back to 776BC.

The booklet includes the official Chinese mascots of the Beijing Olympics, inspired by the number and colours of the five Olympic rings, while the clothing and hats represent the five elements defined by sea, forest, fire, earth and sky, which have become widely accepted and understood symbols in the West.
