The South African Property Transfer Guide (SAPTG) is currently sponsoring a nationwide training programme for property professionals entitled ‘The Science of Success'. Designed for SAPTG subscribers, the training focuses on how to use SAPTG data to secure sales.
‘The Science of Success' seminars are being held at different venues each month and will be taking place in Durban, Bloemfontein, Limpopo and Mpumalanga in September.
“We launched this training programme to help subscribers convert the detailed information the SAPTG is supplying them with into more sales,” confirms SAPTG national training manager, Dieter Deppisch. “It was inspired by our subscribers themselves, and their desire to know how to gain maximum advantage from the data, but the response has been overwhelming, with large numbers of non-subscribers also attending the seminars and signing up immediately afterwards.”
Deppisch attributes the surprising popularity of the programme to the challenging market conditions and a genuine desire for ongoing professional development among property professionals.
“While the main focus of each seminar is to bridge the gap between the SAPTG data and getting a signature on a sale contract, it covers a lot more than just the extraction and analysis of data,” explains Deppisch. “There's also a motivational aspect, which addresses the difficulties agents are currently experiencing, and a sales and marketing aspect, which covers a variety of topics, including advanced selling and price counselling techniques.”
Deppisch also verifies that sponsoring the nationwide training programme was a contribution that SAPTG was delighted to make. “As South Africa's most comprehensive online source of property data, SAPTG has been interacting with property professionals for over 18 years and is delighted to have this opportunity to contribute something positive to a much maligned industry,” he confirms.
The programme forms part of SAPTG's holistic approach to uplift role players from “regular estate agents” to true professionals. SAPTG does this through various forums including roadshows, and exhibitions. Deppisch explains that at times SAPTG works along with companies/institutions such as the Institute of Estate Agents, valuators and conveyancing firms who share their vision of creating and maintaining a property industry that is conducive to the execution of business ethics between realtors and prospective buyers/sellers.
Deppisch is also quick to point out that ‘The Science of Success' programme is not a once-off, but will form part of an ongoing training programme for property professionals by the SAPTG. “We'd like to be part of the process in assisting property professionals in acquiring and maintaining credit points for their NQF Level 4 qualification,” he maintains.
