Robert Warlow, the group chief operating officer said that, once Fina Bank opens in Kampala, it will give its workers an opportunity to work in other East African states like Rwanda, and Kenya. He said the institution will open its door to the Uganda public in mid-September with four branches.

“We want to encourage a cross-border experience. It is not only good for Rwanda or Uganda. From the East African community point of view, we want to encourage the free flow of skills and talent because each country brings something different,” said Warlow last week.

Fina Bank whose leverage in business is based on financing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is currently operating in Kenya and Rwanda - where it expanded its business three years ago. After Uganda, Fina will stretch its arms to reach the Tanzanian and Burundi SMEs.

The company's employment strategy is one which would harmonise well with the East African Community Work Permit that will enable many East Africans to work in different countries, under uniform laws and without numerous tax burdens as of today.

Warlow revealed that in the last three months, the bank has been training several Ugandan workers in Nairobi to equip them with new skills in banking and has seen some of the trainees win accolades for their performance.
