Beautifully produced? -  [OrnicoAd]
It is very disconcerting if the public out there believe that this commercial is beautifully produced.
Surely not?
Where is the standard?
Or are we all so wracked with such a self conscious P.C-ness that it inhibits us in raising our game?

It is NOT good enough. This is a very, very unsophisticated piece of work.

The Castle light 'Vanilla ice' commercial is a good commercial and so is the brilliant Heinekein commercial showing the men losing their minds in the walk in cold storage of beer.
Please raise our game!Posted on 4 Nov 2009 10:45

Sods, all of them! - TV licences to go?
I was also listed by the SABC and paid over R5000 for moving overseas and giving my domestic cleaner the TV as a gift before I left! (We won't mention that she has never paid a TV licence in her life, has never been listed and the TV is connected to illegal power supply). I hate the SABC with so much passion that I never want to see another TV in my life. They lie, cheat, steal, feed us crap and then take us to the cleaners. No words are strong enough for this criminality. The 'company' that they use to do their 'debt collecting' deserves to rot in hell too because they are equally guilty.Posted on 4 Nov 2009 08:35

Fantastic initiative, in line with the Consumer Protection Act - Firehouse wins Tiger Brands campaign
It's great to see organisations implementing initiatives that are in line with the Consumer Protection Act (which will come into effect in October 2010). This "easy-to-read, easy-to-understand labelling system" is a perfect example of what the Act aims to achieve: to protect consumers from unscrupulous businesses and empower them to make wise purchasing decisions. Well done Tiger Brands!Posted on 4 Nov 2009 08:30

How to forecast the future: pitfalls to avoid 2 - How to forecast the future: pitfalls to avoid 2 [Blog post]
Very nice post. By the way, the origin of "the exception proves the rule" is actually "the exception 'proofs' the rule," which means that the exception invalidates the rule. Through colloquial use it has come to, wrongly, be used to state the opposite of what it should.Posted on 3 Nov 2009 17:55

nando's please do not sell - Nando's not up the ‘for sale'
Just like the Hooch drink, it was bought out by fox...none of the Hooch drinks are the same and the same will happen with your brand!!! yes if you get offered millions its a business thing but seriously DO NOT SELL!!! Increase your branches, go bigger. world wide and don't allow a few Business people to take over a company you created. Keep your product...which is awesome, yours!!!! later on down the line, you will make, any potential turn over, profit, your own. stick to it please.Posted on 3 Nov 2009 17:02

I agree - New Motsweding FM lineup released
I agree with one of you guys who wrote that the seasoned presenters should be paired with the younger ones so that they can learn from them. But honestly,as to why Snykie was brought back on air,is still a mystery to me.And why poor Refilwe Madisa,a.k.a Mantsho a.k.a Black Lezothi was totally scrapped just leaves me wondering what is going on.I just wish Lesego Lekgetho was paired with Ous Lindi, the girl is talented and I see her going places in future.I suppose most of us will have to adopt the wait and see attitude.Posted on 3 Nov 2009 16:01

Not just mentioning but also images and slogans - Mention of other brands in advertising material (not comparative advertising) [Forum]
Be careful of using images and slogans used by the company in question too. Most companies have copyrights on their slogans and specific images so you'd need to get written permission to use them. Don't even consider digitally editing an image that is copyrighted to a specific brand - you'd get into a legal battle deluxe!Posted on 3 Nov 2009 15:23

What do you want to do/be? - ADVICE / ASSISTANCE NEEDED [Forum]
So many people want to be in the media industry but very few have a clue what it is they want or who they see themselves being. Media covers a whole spectrum of job opportunities from sales & marketing to PR and TV. If you want to be an actor then find a talent agency to train and help you find job, if you want to be a director then find a production company and offer your services free of charge where you can shadow their directors. Catch my drift? Once you have a clearer idea of what it really and truly is that you want it will make your job hunt a little easier and more streamlined. Good luckPosted on 3 Nov 2009 15:16
