An introduction to the elements and principles of design; their use and meaning in the environment; development of qualitative judgment and creative problem solving.
These are the tools that blend the ingredients for any design project. You can use all the design elements, but if you don't blend them with rhythm, balance, contrast, etc. There are eight design elements that are pulled together by these eight design principles. Applying basic design principles to your work will avoid design disasters and enable you to create an elegant and communicative piece of work. Generally, all the principles of design apply to any piece you may create. How you apply those principles determines how effective your design is in conveying the desired message and how attractive it appears. There is seldom only one correct way to apply each principle.
