The course is targeted at individuals who would like to develop a comprehensive, entry-level copywriting portfolio to take their first step into the communications job market.
Copywriting is a not a field which you can learn about from a book. You need to do it. The only way to understand and develop your creative thinking processes, as well as craft your writing skills, is by putting them into practise - as frequently as possible. But where do you start?
The Copywriting portfolio course has been developed to create a structured approach to the practical application of basic copywriting skills.
The course is targeted at individuals who have already completed an introductory course in copywriting or are familiar with the theory of copywriting, the advertising industry and have an understanding of the fundamental creative processes involved.
This 12-module course involves supervised, practical project work, with the aim of developing a comprehensive, entry-level copywriting portfolio. The projects will cover all the traditional advertising media; including print, television, radio and outdoor; as well as some alternative media such as ambient advertising.
Each student will receive guidance on every project, in a process that closely simulates the creative review system practised in advertising agencies.
Evenings only, once a week, 5.30 - 8.30pm.
