The inaugural Gauteng Charity Mile took place at Turfontein Race Course in Johannesburg on 18 March 2006. Sixteen charities, sixteen horses and sixteen celebraties were competing for R300 000 worth of stakes money. This unique and innovative corporate social initiative gave the public an opportunity to rub shoulders with many of South Africa's stellar sporting and entertainment celebraties.
